Mr. Niqman Rafaee M. Sahar

Director of MATRADE Japan

Mr. Niqman started his career with Malayan Banking Berhad before joining the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) for the past 16 years, since 2004. He holds an accounting background and is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM). He has vast working experiences and hold posts in different departments – North & East Asia, Asia/Africa Division, West & Central Asia etc. in MATRADE.

In 2008, he was the Trade Commissioner based in Santiago covering Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru, overseeing emerging markets in South America. Subsequently, he was also the Trade Commissioner to Thailand till 2016. During that period, he also sits in the BOD of the Malaysian-Thai Chamber of Commerce (MTCC) as Advisor.

From 2016 until June 2019, he headed the Going-Export (Go-Ex) Secretariat at MATRADE. Go-Ex programme is part of the High Impact Programme (HIP) under the SME Masterplan 2012-2020 with the objective to assist SMEs mainly new and existing exporters to enter new markets and introducing new products/services to the global market.

Currently, he is the Director of MATRADE Japan, overseeing Malaysia’s 5th largest trading partner with total trade of more than RM130 billion @ USD30 billion annually. He sits in the Executive Board (EB) Council Members for ASEAN Japan Center (AJC) - (Co-Chairman 2019/March 2020) and is a member of the WLM of ASEAN Trade Promotion Forum (ATPF).

Yatsumoto Tsusho Co Ltd was founded in 1978. The company is specialized in trading of foods, confectionery, cosmetics and quasi-drugs. Mr. Yasuhiro Fukuchi became President of the company in 2013.

Currently, the company imports a total of about 300 SKU from 14 companies from 6 countries globally.

Particularly from Malaysia, the company imports Life chili sauce (Region Food Industries Sdn Bhd), IKO biscuits (YLF Manufacturing Sbn Bhd) and Dr. Aisha Super Granola (Dr. Aishah Solution Sdn Bhd). Mr. Fukuchi also acts as Vice President of A-Transglobal Logistics Co Ltd (Group of A-Transglobal Logistics Sdn Bhd) since 2020.

CHIKASHI KANEKO Attorney-at-Law (admitted in Japan), Representative Director of GVA TNY Consulting Philippines, Inc.

Mr. Kaneko was born in 1985 in Osaka, Japan, and in 2013 graduated from Osaka City University with a Juris Doctor (J.D). He joined GVA LPC, in 2015. GVA LPC provides legal services especially for (including startups) IT companies and listed companies, as well as supporting the establishment of a legal compliance system, financing, and M&A. In 2019, he established GVA TNY Consulting Philippines, Inc. in Manila.

Mr. Saiful Aziz

GVA/LPC A Qualified Advocate and Solicitor under the Malaysia law(Not admitted in Japan) Senior Research Fellow with the Japan Institute of Law and Information Systems

Mr. Aziz graduated from the University of East Anglia School of Law, United Kingdom in 1998 with a Bachelor in Law (LL.B). He continues his legal profession studies by obtaining the Malaysia Certificate of Legal Practice in 1999 and further qualified as a Malaysian Advocate and Solicitor in 2000, he is currently not registered. He worked in a Malaysian IT Company as an In-House Legal Advisor for a couple of years before joining the Incubator Centre of Multimedia University, Malaysia, as an In-House Legal Advisor in 2003. He continues his post-graduate education at Niigata University and obtained a Master in Law (LL.M) and Doctor in Law (LL. D) in 2007 and 2011 respectively. Before joining GVA LPC in 2017, he worked in one of the major law firms in Japan as a Legal Researcher for 5 years.
