Since qualifying as a solicitor in Japan in 2001, he spent eight years at an international law firm and nine years as an in-house counsel, including as General Counsel for a healthcare company in the Asia-Pacific region. He has been based in India since 2019.
Along with local licensed attorneys, coordinates/provides comprehensive services including: pre-entry consultation for Japanese companies expanding overseas (including M&A); post-entry problem resolution (labour law, company law, debt recovery, negotiations with counterparties and authorities); litigation/arbitration; dispute prevention (drafting internal regulations); legal compliance training; internal audit/compliance health checks; and external whistleblowing contact points.
Primarily focused on India and South Asia (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal), with cases in the Middle East and Africa also handled since 2022.
